Meet the Photographer, Jeff

The Photographer-

With over thirty years of experience behind the lens, Jeffrey Rawlinson is a landscape and nature photographer dedicated to capturing the quiet beauty of Northern California. His work reflects a lifelong connection to wild places, shaped by the two places of his childhood; Silicon Valley and the Sierra Nevada.

Blending technical mastery with a deep respect for light, composition, and mood, Jeffrey Rawlinson creates images that invite viewers to slow down and reconnect with nature. Each photograph is guided by patience and intuition.

Through decades of evolving practice, Jeffrey Rawlinson has developed a distinctive visual voice rooted in authenticity and reverence for the environment. His work serves not only as a record of the world’s natural beauty but also as a reminder of our responsibility to protect it.

Tools of the trade

People ask about the camera I use as well as a few other tools of the trade. I’m happy to share! I shoot all my sessions with a Canon R5 mirrorless body and a combination of prime and zoom lenses. My favorite lens is my Canon 50 mm 1.4 which is a dream and sharp as a tack. But a close second for my work is my 85mm f/2 macro. Its sharpness and versatility are top-notch.

Beyond the lens…

If I’m not behind the camera or a computer, working on portraits most of the time you’ll find me enjoying a coffee, spending time with friends.

As a native Californian, my heart is forever connected to the beauty of the golden state. I embrace its cultural roots as well as its evolving inclusive scene of gender diversity, and am proud to call it home. Currently, I enjoy a relaxing and peaceful pace of life in the North Bay. Enjoying the cool delta breeze from off the bay.

So that’s me in a nutshell, and thanks for stopping by. I’d love to get to know you too, so reach out and chat anytime!
